On 13.01.2023, the regional subject Olympiad among the graduating classes of Astana schools was held at the Department of Chemistry at the L.N.Gumilyov ENU. The total number of applicants for the subject of chemistry was 66 people, 51 participated. All participants were from the capital. The Olympiad began at 15:00 and was held at the Department of Chemistry in the 121 auditorium No. 3 of the building until 17:00.

On 14.01.2023, the Chemistry Olympiad among grades 7-10 of Astana city schools was held at the Department of Chemistry of the L.N.Gumilyov Eurasian National University. Secondary schools that have applied to participate in the Olympiad: № 16, № 19, № 20, № 44, № 55; lyceum schools: № 1,№ 11, № 27 № 48, № 60, № 62, №73, №79, № 89; grammar schools: no. 2, № 4, № 14, № 30, №32, № 52, № 68, №83, №86; and also, the International Specialized School No. 81 "Astana English School", Binom school named after Kanysh Satbayev, Binom school named after Kadir Myrza Ali, Binom school named after Akhmet Baitursynuly, Secondary school of Koyandy.

Lecturer of the Department of Chemistry, Dr Aitolkyn S. Uali, completed a research internship under the Bolashak program at Imperial College London. The bioelectrochemistry research was carried out in the research group of Dr Po-Heng Lee, whose research area is microbial genomics and open quantum mechanisms in the environment. Based on the results of the internship, it is planned to publish papers.
