13.04.2023 Safarov R.Z., Candidate of Chemical Sciences, lecturer-researcher of the Department of Chemistry, held a scientific seminar on the topic "Academic writing. How to prepare an article for publication in a highly rated scientific journal". The purpose of the seminar was to give young researchers and colleagues an idea of the publication process, starting with the selection of a suitable journal and ending with the submission of a manuscript and consideration of rejection cases.
The seminar began with an overview of highly rated journals and the benefits of publishing in them. Ruslan Zairovich stressed that publications in such journals can increase the recognition and influence of the researcher's work, which will lead to greater recognition and potential funding opportunities.
He then spoke about the publication process, explaining the different types of manuscripts and their requirements, as well as the role of the editorial board and reviewers in this process. He also stressed the importance of choosing the right magazine for the article and gave advice on finding the right magazine and understanding its requirements.
The lecturer also stressed the importance of developing a clear research question and hypothesis, as well as conducting a thorough review of the literature. He explained the key components of the sections "Introduction", "Methods", "results", "discussion" and "conclusion" and gave advice on how to write each section effectively.
In addition, Ruslan Zairovich discussed the importance of correct citation of sources, the use of citation styles and references to sources, as well as the use of citation automation tools such as Zotero and Mendeley. The lecturer also stressed the need for a clear and concise abstract and keywords, as well as the importance of using a proper scientific writing style and language.
The scientific seminar of the research teacher Safarov R.Z. gave doctoral students and teachers valuable information about the publication process. The presented review of the publication process and tips on effective writing of articles and choosing the right journal can help researchers increase the awareness and effectiveness of their work and, ultimately, achieve their academic and professional goals.
