On April 07, a scientific seminar was held at the Department of Physical and Economic Geography. Leading researcher of JSC "National Company "Kazakhstan Garysh Sapary". PhD, Alagudzhayeva Manira Amankeldievna made a presentation "Scientific and applied fundamentals of integrated flood management with the development of an algorithm for their prevention for the basins of large rivers of Northern, Central and Eastern Kazakhstan". The seminar addressed the following issues:
1. The developed conceptual provision of the applied nature of ensuring safety from the effects of extreme hydrological phenomena (EGW) (floods) in the territories of Northern, Central and Eastern Kazakhstan based on the implementation of the principles of effective adaptive management systems.
2. Inventory and identification of the manifestations of AES (floods) and objects subject to destructible effects.
3. A set of scientifically-based, management measures against the effects of AES (floods). Activities for 5 regions and affected localities, taking into account the specifics of local conditions.
4. Algorithm of flood prevention.
5.Developed a set of maps based on the used archival, field research, remote sensing and geoinformation technologies.
The seminar was attended by more than 50 people — students, undergraduates, young scientists. The seminar was fruitful, aroused great interest among the listeners, who received all the answers to their questions.
