From April 26 to 27, 2021, the II International Student Online Olympiad in the specialty "5B061000-Hydrology" was held on the basis of the L. N. Gumilyov ENU, including the areas of water resources and water use, integrated use and protection of water resources.
The online Olympiad was attended by teams from the Mirzo Ulugbek National University of Uzbekistan, Tashkent; Omsk State Agrarian University named after P. A. Stolypin, Russia; the Sakharov International State Ecological Institute at the Belarusian State University, Minsk; as well as from Kazakh universities: Kyzylorda State University named after A. D. Sakharov. Korkytat, Al-Farabi KazNU, M. H. Dulati TarRU, KazNAUI and L. N. Gumilyov ENU.
The Olympiad was opened with a welcoming speech by the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the L. N. Gumilyov ENU Ongarbayev E. A. and wished the participants of the Olympiad success. The Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences N. L. Shapekova and the head of the Department of Physical and Economic Geography N. E. Ramazanova also welcomed the participants and guests of the Olympiad.

The purpose of the online Olympiad was to reveal creative abilities, select and support the most talented and gifted students; promote the formation of the intellectual potential of students; attract students and young scientists to solve scientific problems of our time; develop interest in scientific activities. The Olympiad program consisted of three rounds: the first round provided for individual participation of team members; the second round consisted of practical tasks for teams of participants; the third round involved teams defending their scientific projects.
The results of the Olympiad are as follows:
The team of students from the Omsk State Agrarian University named after P. A. Stolypin, Russia, was awarded a diploma of the first degree for the victory.
The student teams of Al-Farabi KazNU(Galacticos) and L. N. Gumilyov ENU (Galymdar) were awarded with diplomas of the II degree for the victory.
The teams of students from Al-Farabi KazNU(Water Keepers) and L. N. Gumilyov ENU (Zhasyl El) were awarded with diplomas of the III degree for the victory.
Kholmatovabdukhalilolim Ugli, a student from the Mirzo Ulugbek National University of Uzbekistan, Tashkent, was awarded a diploma of the first degree for winning the individual competition.
The diploma of the II degree for the victory in the individual competition was awarded to the student Volgin Andrey Vitalievich from the Omsk State Agrarian University named after P. A. Stolypin, Russia.
The diploma of the III degree for the victory in the individual competition was awarded to the student Odilovkhozhiakbar Dilshod ugli from the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek, Tashkent.
All participants of the online Olympiad were awarded certificates of participation, and team leaders were awarded letters of thanks for preparing students for the Olympiad.
Despite the current circumstances related to the global pandemic, the students showed their interest and a high level of knowledge in the field of hydrology and water resources. The online Olympiad was held at a good level, in a favorable and friendly atmosphere, all participants were satisfied and are determined to participate in the next Olympiad.
